From the shelf into the center of the room
The Swisscom TV Box & Remote is a voice-controlled video-on-demand and TV device.
The aim of our cooperation was to create a product that fits seamlessly into a modern living situation, appears less technical and puts human interaction in the foreground.
The rounded and slightly curved surfaces of the housing create a direct association to furniture and three-dimensional decorative objects. The silky matt plastic housing is reminiscent of ceramics and makes the box look soft in every light situation. Its soft shape also makes the remote control particularly ergonomic.
A robust yet transparent acoustic fabric offers the best possible microphone performance.
The challenge was to develop a fabric that would constantly match the appearance of the remote control under a different conditions, such as incidence of light or viewing angles.
The Swisscom Tv Box & Remote is a winner of the Red Dot Design Award 2020.
