2020 has certainly been a year of challenges. Instead of creating a printed band poster for the big bash performance at Adobe's MAX conference, this year I worked on a

poster for all of the 200k plus attendees to download and print on their own. The poster is based off of the inventive performance video Tame Impala created to be played during the virtual conference and it was a great experience to work with the artist in creating something that connected the visual to the performance. 

I originally presented a look with a bit more symbolism integrated into the design. 

But to really connect with the elements of the video I drew inspiration from, we ended up with moving towards a simpler piece. 

The video is set in a warehouse with these square columns and I was attracted to the geometric design it created throughout the video. 

I created sketches that took those elements and started replicating the outlines at different angles and I thought the crisscrossing pattern related to the editing in the video of the artist appearing in multiple forms playing many instruments. The center shape of a heart came together through experimentation and was a happy surprise.
