Totem is the title I give to a new series of mixed media paintings, consisting of a variety of images and animal symbols and collages that resonate with life and spirit as it is now. Life as we know is is transient, but the marking that are embedded in the psyche and memory are always informing and influencing my decisions. 

 

'Sinha is here' is the first in the series of Totem. A strong lioness amidst a barren and cold yet sensual landscape stands proudly in the centre of the painting. The bottom half is harsh and dishevelled, as if a fire swept the landscape and this is what remains. Sinha, the Sanskit name for lion, stands without err, still and aware of her being. Five pomegranates float clustered in the sky, representing freedom, hope and courage.
