Challenge
We want to improve how we communicate our real-time information. Our guerilla user-testing is not giving us the results we need.
1 Analysis of the briefing
During our weekly design meetings, with all the designers and analytic guys, this challenge was more a spontaneous event. The issue with testing new bus stop detail designs is that you are never in context. Not really.

Of course, you can guerilla test at a fixed bus stop and design for that bus stop and its lines. But still, you are missing the right times and possible delays that your traveler is experiencing.
A selection of the many designs created to be tested.
2 Prototype
I offered to build a prototype that would allow you to select a bus stop (via bus stop number) and set a few parameters. The parameters and the design were later updated for the second round of testing.
E.g.
  - Show departure time in minutes or hour notation.
  - Only show minute notation if departure is in less than an hour.
  - Type of Realtime icon.
  - Force a delay or cancellation on a ride.

It's best to view the prototype in mobile:
please note that busses only drive from 6am-23pm CEST

The UX/UI designer working for the app was able to gather better insights and information from users. The value of in full context testing was proven and will undoubtedly be repeated.
