Amilcar Lopes Da Costa Cabral born 12th September 1924, died 20th January 1973.
The man who brought Portuguese colonial rule on its knees. An agricultural engineer but also a diplomat, pan-africanist, revolutionary and intellectual poet. Cabral was best known for leading the liberation of Cabo Verde and Guinea-Bissau. His political theories and writings reverberate around the globe. He taught his people how to work the land for better farming results while arming his compatriots with guerrilla warfare tactics. He may have not seen the day of liberation but his ideals built the foundations of modern Guinea-Bissau.

"We do not confuse exploitation or exploiters with the colour of men's skins, we do not want any exploitation in our countries. Not even black people."
