The materials are the basis of every object and product made. The material communicates a sensation, which can be elegance, coldness or warmth, that the designer wants to convey, and through this awaken emotions in the person. The project focuses on the materials present in the local area, Trentino Alto Adige, which are enclosed in a precious solid wood box so that many small pieces of the area can be taken away with them, to get to know it better through the history of its substances.

There were two ideas born with two diametrically opposed thoughts. The first was the "square" idea, which involved a box with a sliding opening and 5 boards inside.

Then it was decided to continue with the second idea trying to lighten the inside so as to reduce the waste of material and the overall weight of the object. The body of the box was
designed to be made of ash, a local wood (and therefore of low environmental impact),
where engravings were made, inspired by the old CD holders, to make
from guide to the material.

Being wood and continuing to absorb moisture behaving like a sponge, it deforms over time. For it was decided to change the material of the lid and to not made of ash, but of felt - a material that is quite plastic and ductile.
