Movement Captured

For this project I collaborated with Rick Valicenti. I decided to focus on just one player and there movements while juggling with a soccer ball. I did this by going to a dark room, attaching glow sticks to my wrists, ankles, top of the foot and the soccer ball. I picked these locations because there are the most important parts of the body while juggling. The 8 photos graphs on the bottom right are my results that I created by painting with light. I had 10 second exposures in each one. I then created a triptych with the images and pulled a quote from a well known soccer player in the sport today. I picked a quote that I could relate too and others could feel some feelings from. I picked this particular type face called inception because when I put the imagery inside of them it breaks it up and makes the quote easier to read and it also brings visual interest to the typeface. I also bring the viewer in with the different amounts of hierarchy with the text. Having just the triptych wasn’t enough though. So, I created a diagram influenced by Eadweard Muybridge to show a player juggling a soccer ball. I colored the feet, wrists, ankles and ball to help show the viewer why the colors are in the places they are and how they got there.
