USGS: 'Did You Feel It?' mobile app

To create apps, make non-profit sites much more useful on mobile, and build solutions that make the world a better place.
This app concept was created in 24 hrs for the Geeklist hackathon competition.
Our team won $1000 cash prize.

Problem:

-Currently the USGS “Did you feel it?” page is not mobile friendly.
-Navigation is poor on a mobile device requiring the user to constantly scroll and zoom in/out for viewing.
Process to finding the solution:

If this was to be mobile friendly, we would have to condense and simplify the links to fit on the device.

What We Know

-The app will likely be used infrequently until a seismic event is experienced
-Seismic events generate short attention spans

What we want the app to mean to users

-The "go-to" site to access seismic information on demand
-Have the most pertient infomation available with ease
-Enable users to communicate with loved ones during emergency
-Encourage interest to use during unrelated moments
