Experiments in Poster Design

Project: As an attempt to experiment with Photoshop, the aim of this project is to design creative posters that employ Maxi Typography.

Focus: As someone who is still new to design, I tried as much as to create and use colors that go well with one another. It was also important to pay attention to the colors of the different composite images used, and make sure they appear to be a part of the same environment.

Learning Curve: By creating composites over and over again, the processes of color correction, layers and masks, and creating compositions started to take lesser of my time. This allowed me to think of more creative ways to convey ideas visually. An extremely valuable lesson I learnt while creating composites is that the initial process of picking the right images for the final artwork requires due and deliberate attention.

Results: After making significant mistakes and learning from them, I was able to focus on creating a poster for a game that has grabbed my attention like a child for weeks. Ghost Of Tsushima is set in a Japanese island that is under siege from the Mongol Empire. A samurai that survives the attack travels the island and constructs a revolution from within. The game is violent, dynamic and beautiful all at the same time. I wanted to use my newly learnt skills to design a poster for it.
