Location: Kharkiv, Ukraine
Project area: 30.9 sq.m
Year: 2019/2020
Design and visualization: Alyssa Taiemnytska
The main interior solution was aimed for a light comfortable space on the area of 30.9 sq. m. with functionality that wouldn`t require permanent transformation of furniture and dividing the room into tiers.
The apartment is located in a brick two-story house built at the end of the 1950s. High ceilings and large windows are its advantage, which allows to create a compact, but not cramped living space, despite the small rooms’ area.
The room, entrance hall, corridor and kitchen were originally divided and now they are combined into one room, and the small bathroom is expanded towards the corridor and the room. In the absence of living space, the storage area stretched along the room and occupied the entire room height.
A sleeping box is located on a two-stage raised floor, which is also a base for the sofa. The sleeping and resting area can be separated by a decorative louver partition, which slightly dims light coming from neighboring areas and, mainly, makes it possible to create two independent spaces in different usage scenarios.
A comfortable cooking area and a rest zone are separated by a kitchen peninsula. This planning solution allows to create additional places for storage and cooking.
If necessary, a monitor or TV can be located on the countertop by the window, and it will be hidden in a cabinet drawer with a swing-out door located above desk.
A small wardrobe and storage closet separated the living area from the hallway. The floor-to-ceiling mirror is an important element of the spatial solution, which visually increases the room, connects zones and adds more natural light to the hallway.
The general restraint of the interior architectural skeleton allows to fill it with bolder textures and decor, which can be changed, actualized over time and individualized for the tenant.
