BUDAPEST IN 100 WORDS 2020

about /  Budapest in 100 words is a story writing competition for those who feel for the city so much that they just want to put it into words. The story of the 'stories in 100 words' started in 2001 in Santiago de Chile. A group of university students had a dream to open a call for urban dwellers to write their stories, share their thoughts and feelings about their city.

In 2020 I had the chance to design the identity for the competition in Budapest. My goal was to communicate a youthful and a slightly utopian look as well as our common love for the city. I had very few restrictions, so I made some for myself: 2 colours, print-like graphics, simplified characters and lots of plants. The logo is not my work, but I aimed at a visually unified outcome.
The competition was celebrated with two events — a concert and an outdoor exhibition — both for which I designed graphic layouts as well.

I illustrated one story of the selected 13 stories as well. This was about someone's grandparents' budding romance in the 70's, who met by chance in Budapest - the man working at an underground construction, the woman working in a coffee shop nearby.
