Radosnica (Baby Journal) is the book of memories of the baby’s birth and his/her first acquaintance with the world he/she was brought into. It is conceived as a book in which the parents, by using the guidelines, would enter the dates important for their child and themselves, and also keep the photographs of important events. The process of developing the design and making illustrations for the Radosnica project was such a joy. The idea was to have illustrations with soft and clean lines and clear and bright colors, representing the emotions stirred by the first encounter with the baby.
The drawings represent a kind of benevolent fairytale chaos, reminiscent of the world that the baby is brought into. The idea is to represent the world as a book, and a carousel of objects, phenomena and symbols. With their style, the illustrations stimulate intergenerational communication, since they resemble illustrations from the childhood of today’s parents.
Radosnica is an album of shared moments, preserved and bound together, a book about the initial days of a life.
