I was approached by a local cafe in Ashikaga, Japan to produce a poster for an upcoming jazz event held at the end of October at the cafe. The band is called Blue Note, and they have a more mellow jazz sound. The evenings event will also feature homemade soba noodles made at the cafe, and will have a dinner-party-esque feel to it.

 

The band, and cafe, have never had a poster produced professionally and so did not really know what they were looking for in terms of design. I came up with this bold poster design with a cool colour scheme that reflects the band's nature. The font style is modern but slightly stylized to give it a more adult feel. The vector images used in the background add a pop of colour and pattern that catches a viewers attention. This, alongside the microphone image, makes it clear what the poster is advertising.
