The Banco Estatal de Datos e Información sobre Casos de Violencia contra las Mujeres
(BanEsViM) is a Government Agency tasked with the creation and safekeeping of records
of women in danger. They also run outreach campaigns, and as part of their work, they
wanted to open a discussion about the issue of Mobbing.

We started our research by understanding what Mobbing is, how it is defined, and how to
prevent it. We asked support groups for their experiences and any information they
thought could help to understand the issue. We identified that there are no currently
accepted legal, nor formal, definitions of the behaviours that are considered workplace
harassment. This is due to an extremely low volume of reports. So, in order to give back to
the community that had helped us, we chose to develop our own scale of harassing
behaviour, which was later adopted by BanEsViM.

We chose to communicate all the information with a video, as the resulting bundle of
information might prove too dense to properly disseminate. We decided to write the script
and create the storyboard side by side while working with external advisors to minimise
offensive representations, while continuing to include characters representative of the
traditional Mexican Office experience. As a cast cutting measure we chose to record the
voiceovers during the design process.

We decided to cut the video in three segments meant to be played independently,
together, or in any random order while maintaining cohesion and a common thread. We
also included accessibility measures, such as subtitles and specially selected colours. The
three sections included an introduction to mobbing, the workplace harassment scale,
expert recommendations for dealing with harassment, the services offered by BanEsViM,
and support contacts for harassment victims.

We are currently exploring ways to further the reach of our collaboration with BanEsViM.
