The Grünwalder Stadium has been representing Munich's sporting history for over 100 years, being the first one to be built. The thesis proposes a modular renovation, extension and reuse of the stadium, based on an analysis of the building, its surroundings, its history and culture for a team in constant abscess, the TSV 1860. In this way, the project makes use of the location of an urban stadium, where public transport and parking lots for the arrival of visitors abound.

The goal is clear: to double the number of spectators; to meet the requirements of the German Football League in terms of construction, infrastructure and safety; to increase and create useful and open spaces inside the stadium for local residents; to provide coverage to protect visitors; and to achieve this goal with a simple system in the shortest possible time and at the lowest cost so as not to disturb the residents of the Giesing district.

The enormous complexity is solved through optimization, with a modular system in prefabricated steel, placed and assembled on site. It consists of 8 elements that are adapt to existing staircases: a steel structure capable of supporting a grandstand, the roof membrane, a system of stairs, floor plates, wall elements and a perforated metal sheet facade.
