Redesign of Uboat Wheel and Braking System
Problem Consideration:
●UBoats are prone to damage over time
●Damaged wheel axis creates audible, irritating noise
●Wheels are inconvenient to replace
●Carts move around during loading and unloading and can be difficult to navigate through narrow aisles
Solution
●Replace caster wheels with spherical wheel system for full-planar motion and reduction in housing wear
●Introduce retractable caster wheel system for linear motion
●Introduce parking system for loading and unloading cart
Analyses Performed:
●Static/loading analysis: the wheels, cart bed, and pedal system
●Dynamic analysis: brake pads
●Kinematic analysis: retractable linear guide wheels and braking pedal systems
●Fatigue analysis: pedal mechanism
●FEA validation
