Back in 2011, I designed and managed delivery of the Spotify TV app for the TiVo platform on Virgin Media in the UK. Version 2 of the app with additional features went live on TiVo consumer boxes in the U.S and in the UK on Virgin Media in January 2014. Screen designs for version 2 are featured below.
Splash Screen
Having selected Spotify from the TiVo app store, the user is presented with the Splash Screen as the app loads and signs in the user.
Sign In
The sign in screen featuring onscreen keypad. The original Virgin Media version of the app relied on direct SMS style input using the alpha-numeric keys on the remote control.
What's New
The user can browse the album list on the left and play corresponding tracks from the middle column.
Options Panel
The user presses INFO on their remote control to display the Options Panel. From here they can perform a number of functions, including adding the current album or track to a new or existing playlist. Originally the GREEN button was used to display the Options Panel. However, as the GREEN button was positioned far from the remote control arrows buttons and as this function is called often by the user, we decided to use the INFO button instead.
Add To Playlist
Having opted to an the album or track to a playlist, the user is prompted to select an existing playlist or create a new playlist.
Playlist Confirmation
If the user selects a new playlist, to save putting the user through the pain of entering text using a television remote control, the playlist is automatically named based on the artist name and track or album title.
Playlists
The list of playlists is synced with the user's existing Premium Spotify account.
Search Suggestions
As the user enters text using the TiVo remote control, suggested search results appear in the panel overlay. The user can navigate right to select any one of these suggestions.
Search Results
Results are listed across three columns, enabling the user to play the track, link to the artist, or link to the album page. For example, the first search results is 'Here Comes Your Man' by Pixies on the album 'Doolittle'. If the user pressed OK, 'Here Comes Your Man' would play. If the user pressed right, focus would be passed to the artist name (Pixies).

Artist Screen
The selected artist's albums appear in the left column with corresponding tracks in the middle column.
Related Artists
A list of artists in the left column related to a featured artist (in this example the featured artist is Serge Gainsbourg) with assoicated top 5 tracks in middle column.
Full Screen Mode
A more graphically rich screen featuring the cover art for the currently playing track.
