YOS is a blood glucose monitoring kiosk for semi-public spaces like office buildings, educational institutions, IT parks etc. It uses a laser beam instead of a traditional needle for lancing. A packet containing a test strip, a lens cover for the laser and cotton to clean the fingertip is dispensed when payment is made and instructions for use appear on the screen.

Payment for the use of the kiosk can be done through credit/debit card at the kiosk or a code can be purchased at a pharmacy or by sending an SMS for each test. Prepaid cards  for 5 or 10 tests can also be purchased at the pharmacy.

An audio button has been provided in the centre. When a user stands in front of the device for more than 5 seconds, a sensor detects this and prompts the user to press the audio button in the centre for further audio instructions. Thus, the device can become accessible to the visually impaired as well.

The kiosk is to be installed in places where there is access to wash hands before and after use.
