This project’s focus was equally split between creating a brand new interior atmosphere and detailing the idea to the extent of experiencing it, at the smallest elemental level. A cosmopolitan city tackles its real estate deficit, by fitting more than one program in a given space or doubling its usable hours. This idea of hybrid spaces was the agenda of this project. The site was a concrete frame structure, replicating the dimension of the shipping containers. The linearity and triple height spaces became the starting point of the design so as to utilize the space efficiently. The hybrid programs selected had to be commercial in nature and work cohesively. The spatial quality of the site determined the total program of a rock climbing gym and shoe retail. The triple height works for climbing and the linearity, to accommodate both retail as well as the climbing walls without stacking too many floors.
