IDENTIFYING THE “ROLE OF THE SITE” WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF THE BAAKENS VALLEY/ INNER CITY OF PORT ELIZABETH. THE URBAN DESIGN FRAMEWORK IS TO BE REPRESENTED WITH BOTH A 2-DIMENSIONAL MAP AND THE, ABOVE MENTIONED, 3-DIMENSIONAL FORM-BASED CODING.

CENTRES. WITH THE REDESIGN OF THE FREEWAY TO AN UNDERGROUND SYSTEM - CREATING A CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE HARBOUR PRECINCT - INSTILLING A SENSE OF SYNERGY BETWEEN THE COMMUNITY AND THE URBAN LANDSCAPE.

CREATING THE INFRASTUCTURE FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORT TO BE PUT IN PLACE/ EXPANDED, WITH THE USE OF BUS LANES. THIS AIDS IN LINKING ALL “AREAS OF LIFE.”

EMBRACING THE INFORMAL VENDORS ALONG GOVAN MBEKI BY CREATING A “PEDESTRIANS ONLY” STREET THAT ALLOWS FOR PEOPLE TO MOVE FREELY.

INSTALLATION.
