Based in the town of Belper, but more than happy to travel, I provide alternative wedding photography as well as portrait shoots and event photography.
I currently live in a small town in Derbyshire called Belper (near Derby and Nottingham). I am originally from Liverpool, and still have a base in the North West, so I am more than happy to cover weddings in that area.
Having always had an enthusiasm for photography I decided to go into it professionally after accompanying another photographer along to the wedding of one of his clients to do some shooting of the event myself for my portfolio. I put my own images up on the internet and was pleasantly surprised when some enquiries appeared in my inbox from ladies asking if I'd be interested in shooting their own weddings. It was certainly lovely to see that I had already caught the eye of a few people, and it gave me the confidence to pursue it further.
Being a fan of vintage imagery myself, I create photographs with that air of old fashioned romance to them, and process my images to achieve an almost film type quality as opposed to digital. I much prefer the softer, more natural tones, in comparison to the harsh high contrast images which some digital photographers opt for (which hopefully, if you're reading this, you do too!). I'm a naturally artistic person (I also work as an illustrator and have been drawing for as long as I can remember) and feel this definitely lends well to my photography, knowing where and when I can get the best shots to really capture the moment and atmosphere. I enjoy capturing the little things, moments in time that need to be saved. It's looking back through shots such as these that really put you back in that time and place to me and convey personalities, not the images created when you're made aware of the photographers presence. As a result my style of photography is informal, fun and creative, and with a limited amount of set shots/posed group images

My camera, drawing, tea (especially vanilla or strawberry), cake (blackforest gateau or chocolate fudge cake please!), animals, music, old postcards, cabaret shows, red lipstick, polka dot dresses, cute little cottages with flowers climbing up the walls, the colour duck-egg, books by Danny Wallace, fish and chips, handwritten letters, Hugh Jackman/Michael Fassbender/Aidan Turner, heart shaped things, travelling, record hunting in local charity shops...
