The art work Don Chisciotte actualizes the novel written by Cervantes by taking in consideration the world without strong ideals in which we are now living. Don Chisciotte symbolizes the last of modern idealist, who tries to fight for his believes against disillusion and resignation. On one side, in the novel, that is considered by many as the first modern novel, the character represents the “heroic madness” inside of everybody. On the other hand, the art piece wants to underline the desperation of someone who is still trying to fight for something into a disillusioned society. By overcoming the distinction of madness and sanity, the work wants to unify utopia and dystopia in a unique and new concept.
In un mondo che sembra ormai privo di ideali forti che possano orientare le nostre vite, la figura di Don Chisciotte vuole simboleggiare l'ultimo degli idealisti moderni, che si proietta inesorabilmente verso un orizzonte perduto, lottando ed incarnando gli ideali di un passato non più attualizzabile. Nel caso del personaggio costruito parodicamente da Chervantes, si tratta dell'ultimo baluardo del concetto di cavalleria; nella reinterpretazione odierna, il paradosso di qualcuno che lotta per un futuro utopico circondato da disillusione e rassegnazione. Utopia e Distopia vengono così conciliati in una raffigurazione anche stilisticamente paradossale, che vuole restituire questa dimensione di frammentazione e al contempo di fusione tra varie dimensioni.
