Commission For book coverI believe that graphite is one of the noblest forms of work to capture the features of a face and in turn allows us as artists to express ourselves through the line.
Personally, it is a job that I really enjoy.
In this case, I took Bradbury's face framed in a space suit, (one of the greatest symbols of the scifi) and incorporated elements that have to do with his work.
I really like working on what I call a "fantasy portrait" and I think it adds several levels of reading to an illustration, making it much more interesting.
