Bolo Safari – mixtape album cover and art direction
The city of Bologna (IT) hosts a fervent emerging rap scene, made up of many separate realities: hence the idea – from a dear friend and artist – to bring them together in a single project, which would collect a taste of the panorama as in a gallery current in the city.
1 – Background
First, a map of the city center was needed, even if not totally explicit.
The map is the symbol of common belonging to the territory, it is the web that connects citizens and local artists in the same ecosystem. Orange is the dominant color of the cover as it is of the city: we find it in its roofs, walls, doors and gates.
2 – Tracklist / Back cover
The tracklist must evoke street life and its transitory nature. The paper tape is unpretentious, it is precarious and sticks everywhere; hand lettering evokes the tags with the marker.
3 – Front cover
This mixtape wants to evoke the home compilations we burned in the 2000s, starting with blank discs on which we wrote a title with the marker, trying not to smudge it, even if it was scratched over time. In the case there is also a Bologna bus ticket, quintessence of the urban movement. That's all, have a nice trip.
