morphº : a mini collection
Came from the words morpho and biomorphic, morphº embodies the concept of biophilia into a collection to be worn by human. Biophilia - a term to describe human tendency to affiliate with nature and lifelike processes - is a hypothesis that has been implemented with technological nature into processes and shapes of human inventions to provide solutions physically and psychologically.
As to appease the need to connect with nature, biophilic design comes through various approaches. The biomorphic approach plays an important role in psychological impact that comes from the aesthetic impression of natural forms. The imitation of organic shapes and motifs of natural objects is a component key of biophilic design.
Morpho butterfly is one of the butterfly species that has wing characteristics that emit iridescent blue created from nanostructures on the wings. This structure is adapted through biomorphic approach using structural design, with 3d print and resin - an unconventional material on the textile field. Biomorphic structure of the Morpho butterfly wings is one of the manifestations of biophilia through the aesthetics presented in functional products.

This mini collection is a final project for Bachelor of Craft Design - Textile Major in Bandung Institue of Technology.
