What's Your Fortune? Tabletop Game

What's Your Fortune? Tabletop Game
Users play the game to determine their fate by selecting a hidden wooden wedge from the base.

I wanted to create a simplistic tabletop game that was not only attractive enough to leave out in plain site, but could also bring a smile or a smirk from the user.

Not all of the fortunes bring good luck to the user because I wanted this game to acknowledge the fact that life doesn't always go the way you plan.
'Luck of the Draw' As Inspiration:
My inspiration for this game comes from the Omikuji (Paper Fortune) at Sensoji in Asakusa Japan. I liked the charming way people would select their fortune through a luck of the draw system, where by shaking a small box you receive a small stick with a code corresponding to a drawerful of your particular paper fortune.
Ideation Sketches:
“Fate is like a strange, unpopular restaurant filled with odd little waiters who bring you things you never asked for and don't always like.”
― Lemony Snicket
Building the Prototype:
This game is made from hand-cut wood on a foam platform. The imagery and text are screen printed. Ideally if I were to recreate this project I would make it out of plastic with embossed lettering.

Dimensions : 6.5" x 6.5" x 7"
