MO Honey Packaging

Project Overview
Mo Honey is an artisanal honey made at Mohawk Group’s onsite carpet production center in Glasgow, Virginia as a part of their commitment to sustainability. Wanting to package the honey as a gift for plant tourists, Leap was approached to create economical and environmentally friendly gift pack solutions for limited run production. Design challenges included the use of only one color on packing materials, the use of sustainable materials and ease of production/distribution.
Our Leap creative team utilized hand drawn images of flowers and bees that were applied to paper packaging and a stationery suite that added to the crafted aesthetic of the honey. A branded mark was also developed in the shape of a honeycomb hexagon and is adorned with the Mo Honey logotype nested inside of it. Standardized, recycled packaging items were utilized to decrease production cost, including: 4oz-12oz glass mason jars, 8″ paperboard boxes, muslin drawstring bags, and hang tags.
Whenever possible, soy inks and other green production tools were utilized. To add variety, different papers and substrates were used in tandem within the suite for visual interest. Recycled fiber snippets from the manufacturing plant were collected and used as hang tag string, adding a personalized touch to the location and furthering the sustainability story.
