This was a class assignment that required us create a book title page inspired by the Arts & Crafts movement for Martha Stewart. The work could be a pure historic recreation or a contemporary rendering that clearly points to / comments on past influences from that era.
I was the only student in class who made a contemporary solution. I used the values and concerns of those from the Arts & Crafts movement and incorporated it into modern book design. By using the appropriate typefaces, margins and imagery I alluded to that creative era while simultaneously representing the DIY culture that is popular today.
