I'M BEING FOLLOWED BY A MOONSHADOW
I was commissioned to write, design & illustrate a series of 8 flags
for a client with a new post-career garden. The QUEEN of the GARDEN
came to me with the concept of honoring the 8 phases of the moon's cycles
and how the daily changing moonshadow affects the garden. Also to help the visitor
of the garden learn how and why the moon looks the way it does every day & every night.
I really enjoyed the educational part of this creative
endeavor because I, too, learned more about the whys
and hows of our earth's celestial companion.
I'm basically an analog illustrator and we agreed that
these deserve a handcrafted feel. I illustrated each one on
Strathmore sketchpaper and then scanned 'em with my cheap printer.
Then I hand 'drew' the text in the night sky with the mouse.
Every star in the sky is created by a cursor click.
ANALOG + DIGITAL ANALOG.
It's like heaven to me.
They flags will hang
on clothes lines throughout
the natural setting.
