As I focused on photographing cars arriving at the car meet, I never put the thought of what cars mean to me or what I actually think of them.
Even as a person who likes and adore cars, I still find it a bit hard to describe sometimes. I think I would describe cars as......
....individually unique and special in their own way or.....
.....an extension of the driver and those who care and treasure it.
There are some things that can spontaneously grab someones attention or it just grows on them overtime. I can't say the fondness of cars was spontaneous to me, but it was a fondness that grew overtime by just being around and learning more about them.
Theres such an attractiveness to cars that pull some people in like a magnet. Whether it's the body styling, wheel set, engine power, interior styling or just the general stance overall. There are so many things to say about cars that it can be too much!
Sporty, elegant, robust, cute, cool, luxurious, tough, sharp, economic, steady, classic, or speedy are just a few common examples of how one could describe a car. If I could describe a car in just one word it would be....well I'm just not sure as there are so many ways to describe!
It is interesting to observe a common fondness to one kind of car people adore. Some arrive in pairs of the same car or in a large group with different cars. It's always fun to find cars wandering the lot until they find a car similar to theirs whether it be color or model to park next to.
Cars are capable of traversing terrain and traveling great distances. Even building a small tent around one is not out of the question!
The interior is the car lovers office. The numbered text of the instrument cluster, styling and comfort of the seats and the overall feel of the steering wheel and gearshift all contribute to ones individual fondness of cars.
I feel my journey to finding what cars mean to me it still a journey in progress. The more I capture cars through my lens and continue to be around them, maybe I'll be closer to finding the meaning of cars.
