The Mamluk State, or the Sultanate of the Mamluks ... is one of the Islamic states that were established in Egypt during the late third Abbasid era, and its borders later extended to include the Levant and Hijaz, and its king lasted since the fall of the Ayyubid state in the year 648 A.H. The first of the Levantine and Egyptian lands to his state after the defeat of the Mamluks in the Battle of Ridania in 923 AH corresponding to the year 1517 CE.
Historians divide the Mamluk state into two branches or two states: the Maritime Mamluk State and the Tower Mamluk State. The Mamluks are slave warriors, the first Abbasid caliphs brought them from Turkestan and the Caucasus and others and made them their guards and leaders of the Muslim armies. The Muslim sultans and princes followed the example of the caliphate in Baghdad, and each of them had a group of strong and militarily competent Mamelukes
The Mamluks appeared as the saviors of the Islamic world from loss and disappearance after the fall of Baghdad, the capital of the Abbasid state and the Islamic caliphate, in the hands of the Mongols under the leadership of Hulagu Khan, and the killing of the last caliph of the Banu al-Abbas, Abu Ahmad Abdullah al-Mustasim, by God. The Mongols marched to invade the Levant and threatened Egypt with a fate similar to that of Baghdad, so that Islam would not be established after that. On their heels. In addition, the Mamluks inherited from the Ayyubids their determination to fight the Crusaders and evacuate them from the East, so they almost finished fighting the Mongols until they started to fight the Crusaders.
