Michael Keefe Gorman's profile

Summer Fellows Pays Youth for Summer Education

Keefe Morgan has worked with Merrill Lynch since 1987, and currently serves as a managing director. Outside of his work with Merrill Lynch, Keefe Morgan spends much of his time in philanthropic outreach, supporting organizations like Foodnet/Meals on Wheels (where he spent 8 years as a board member in Thompkins County) and the Allyn Family Foundation.

The Allyn Family Foundation strives to improve and build the community in the neighborhoods of central New York with a variety of outreach opportunities. Most recently, the Allyn Family Foundation has offered its support to an innovative summer youth program called the Bea Gonzalez Summer Fellows. The youth in this community were inspired by the impact of COVID-19 and developed the Bea Gonzalez Summer Fellows in response. The 821 fellows have participated in educational programming of 15 hours each week over 4 weeks (spread between July 31 and August 31).

Once the program is completed, each participant will receive a stipend of $599. The programming has consisted of both virtual and in-person programming (in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines) with 15 different non-profit organizations. With all the organizations, programming centers around four main pillars: reproductive well-being, self-care, financial literacy, and work/life skills.
