In 2018 we took the national book design competition in a different direction. A clean approach for the 7th edition of a project that had nurtured a faithful community around it. We had the opportunity of being involved in organising, art directing and curating. A type based visual identity that we started from the alphabet soup; letters suspended in an infinite black background. 

Photography for the shortlisted books was done in b&w with a setup meant to give the same feeling of suspended animation. 

For the exhibition, in order to bring dynamic to the classic tabletop upon which one can browse a book, we created a set of modular mobile blocks. Made of construction styrofoam and assembled with only one screwdriver, the modules were meant to fit into any exhibition space with ease and be easily arranged and rearranged by either the curator or the visitors to their liking; a way of maintaining the project’s identity for the several other exhibitions throughout the year and, of course, a chance to fool around with the furniture. For the cherry on top, we screen-printed the diplomas on B2 sized, heavy duty cardboard, so that the winners would have something to remember and struggle to carry back home.
