Health Fortuna Hospitals – Doctor’s Mobile Application

“Health Fortuna” is a chain of multispecialty hospitals headquartered in India. With its operations spread over 32 cities in India and over 15 countries, the hospital chain has 24 different departments catering to different specialties. The hospital chain boasts of Doctors in its staff who are considered experts in their field in National as well as International forums.
With vision to make lives healthy and create comfort, the Hospital chain has been renowned for its seamless on-ground processes, helpful staff and proactive health services all aimed to ensure comfortable process for patients and their attendants. Over few months the hospital chain has witnessed a large influx of new as well as existing patients from within the country as well as international patients. The administration has observed that due to this large influx, the doctors are caught up with back to back appointments thus finding it difficult to perform certain tasks such as review the patient history or adjust an emergency case. Also, with Covid-19, there has been a large demand among the patients for telephonic or video based consultation. For the same, it becomes necessary for the doctors to take up such consultations and adjust such meetings based on criticality.
Problem Statement: The hospital wants to create a Doctor’s Mobile Application which provides the capability to doctors for managing their appointments and patient’s profile/reports effectively with the focus on ensuring that both, doctors as well as patients have smooth interaction.

Goal: The aim of this app is to let doctors to manage their appointments and patient’s profile/reports effectively with the focus on ensuring that both (doctors as well as patients have smooth interaction).

Target Audience:  Professional doctors aged between 25 to 60 years.

My Role & Responsibilities: UX designer leading this application and my responsibilities consist of  User Research, Competitive audit, User journey, Determining information architecture, Personas, Paper & Digital wireframing, Visual identity, Low & High fidelity prototyping.

User Research : Summary : I conducted interviews with set of experts and to understand the users I'm designing for and their needs. A primary user group identified through research was working doctors who were looking for a way to connect with their patients through an application and guide them what precautions or medication they should follow to live life. Based on my research, I have seen that most users have trouble to view their upcoming and already done session data and what all medication they were given.

User Research: Pain Points: a. Experience - Existing applications doesn't provide an engaging experience.
b. Logs and call - existing logs are not properly visible to the users.
c. Recording - consultation call is not recorded for future purpose.
Impact: Users shared that while using this app going through the schedule of consultations with patients  have made their life easier in this pandemic time and doctor can also view detailed reports or consultation has been prescribed to the patient.

What I learned: I wanted to tackle the issue of managing the appointment of patients and their reports, and I learned that even though the problem I was trying to solve was a big one, diligently going through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs helped me to come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful.

Next steps:  a. Conducting research on how successful the app is in reaching the goal to make user experience seamless.
b. Add more features for doctors to interact with patient like data of patient should be filled verbally, etc.
c. Possibly from user experience point of view, certain tweaks will be made in user interface.

Thank you for your time reviewing my work!
