Black Cultural Zone Resilience Co-Hub. 2020 Barbara G. Laurie NOMA Student Design Competition. People are the power, a concept shown through the connection of the public spaces, while the residential space is placed superior, in a minor private and elevated plane, emphasizing the importance of the people, and divided into cubes to mimic the industrial culture of Oakland. The residential area building create a wave where they touch the sky. On the facade, the wave effect is also incorporated through the use of different depth to honor the creek in the site and to elude to water. We want our building to be a place from different cultures can come together and develop a community. We want it to be a place in which peoples life will develop and flourish.
