Segways & Hoverboard

Description :

Director Robert Zemeckis described the hover board as follows:

“ A hover board is a board that floats using a magnetic field. It works like a skateboard, only without wheels, and does not need a road surface to work. They were invented several years ago, just parents do not allow them to start mass production. We managed to get a few of them and use them in the film.”

Of course, later he "had" to say that he was joking, but immediately after that, Mattel, whose logo was printed on Marty’s board , was literally inundated with calls asking when their mass production would begin.

Hover board in literature :

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Drop (Eng.) ( 2009 ). Greg Hefley mentions that he has no money for a snack as he ordered several products from his comics, one of which is a hover board (in fact, Greg is stuck on the first step: acquiring an industrial grade turbine engine).

Hover board in real life
Attempts to create a hover board have been made many times.
It was rumored that Dean Kaman’s invention , codenamed "Ginger," in 2001, was a hover board-like transport device. In fact, the Ginger turned out to be a Segways , an electric self-balancing two-wheeled vehicle.
In 2004, Jamie Heinemann and his team built a makeshift hovercraft for the Myth Busters , dubbed the Heinemann Hoverboard(hoverboards black friday sale). It was made from a surfboard and a leaf pump. However, Jamie's hoverboard was not very effective.
In 2005, Jason Bradbury created a hoverboard for the Gadget Show using a wooden board that was flown with a leaf pump. The created device was not self-propelled, and it could not be controlled. In 2009, a second, self-propelled version was made, which was driven by a small jet engine (not a propeller like an airboat ) and also contained 2 (more powerful) leaf harvesting pumps [2] .
In 2010 Angie Greenup, Mark Horowitz and Chad Zeneca made another "hoverboard" for the show It's Elfin 'Science from a wooden board and a leaf pump [3] .
Designer Nils Guadagnin has created a hoverboard that uses the force of magnetic repulsion, but cannot carry the load. The board was installed over a special podium, in which electromagnets and a laser positioning system are built, holding the board in a stationary position [4] [5] .
In October 2011, MagSurf, a superconductor- based device that levitates 3 cm above magnetic rails and can carry up to 100 kg, was presented at the Fête de la science 2011 at the Fête de la science 2011 at the University of Paris VII Denis Diderot . The device uses the Meissen effect [6] [7] .
In 2014, an American extreme sportsman, inventor Frankie Zapata created the Fly board, his prototype of a flying board that moves above the water surface [8] . Its version of the hoverboard is powered by the powerful water pressure from the jet ski, and can be handled by one or two. The thrust accelerates the hoverboard to 24 knots (43 kilometers per hour) and raises it to a height of 6 meters above the water.
The Flyboard Air of the same inventor soars in the air thanks to four jet engines, each of which has a capacity of 250 horsepower. The fuel supply (in this case, kerosene) is stored in the tank, which is secured with straps on the pilot's back. The hoverboard is controlled using a remote control inserted into the pilot's hand, as well as by tilting the platform with his feet. An automatic system of several gyroscopes, powered by built-in batteries, helps keep the entire system in balance. From the bottom to the platform there are four stands, on which one lands on a hard surface, and from above, comfortable boots are mounted into it, into which the pilot pushes his legs [9] [10] .
In March 2014, HUVr Tech launched a viral video on the Internet advertising allegedly produced prototypes of the hoverboard from the 1985 movie [11] . After reaching a critical number of those wishing to purchase or get acquainted with their development, the team had to publish a message that it was a joke.
In 2014, there were reports of a startup Hendo, which presented a working prototype and raised money for further development [12] .
In 2015, Lexus , a division of the automotive giant Toyota , announced its version of the hoverboard called the Lexus Hoverboard. However, you can ride it only on a special surface [13] .
On August 5, 2015, Lexus presented a video of a prototype hoverboard and testing it [14] . The design used the principle of quantum levitation [15] .
Arx Pax, the developer of the Hendo hoverboard(hoverboard kart), has issued a press release on the next generation of its product. They promise greater autonomy and more powerful engines [16] .
On December 24, 2015, the American company ARCA Space Corporation presented the ArcaBoard ( English ) , equipped with 36 screws and capable of being held in the air for up to 6 minutes and carrying a mass of up to 110 kg [17] [18] .
