NEW HOLLAND ISLAND INTERNATIONAL DEBUT FILM FESTIVAL, 2019
A large-scale preview of the festival was held from 26 to 28 July 2019 at New Holland Island and featured premiere screenings and discussions with filmmakers, a roundtable on debut cinema in Russia, presentations of leading Russian film schools, and a programme of works by young Russian video artists. Over 55,000 people visited the island over the course of three days.
The mission of the festival is to help original creative expression reach a wide audience and to amplify new voices internationally.
Fiction, documentary and experimental film form a wide-ranging dialogue within both the competitions and special programmes.
The festival was organised by the team behind the New Holland: Cultural Urbanization project, itself founded in 2011 by Roman Abramovich and Dasha Zhukova, patrons of art and culture in Russia.
