scenography and costume design for play by Tenesse Williams
The scenery is designed for the needs of the television theater.
My scenography and costumes shows the exact time and place depicted in the play: America of the 1930s, an apartment in a tenement house in a poor neighborhood.

The apartment is built in the movie production hall. Due to the need to build stairs with a landing, which are the main entrance to the apartment, the entire structure must be raised to the height of the high ground floor.
In front of the wall with the windows of the living room and the kitchen there is a background. Depending on the scene, the background changes color: it is peach when it is afternoon in the play, navy blue when it is night, light yellow during the day. All the colors are broken, pastel, referring to the aesthetics of the 1940s.
Against the background, at the height of a large window in the living room, comments on the situation in art appear in line with the script. They are displayed in different fonts like the titles of old movies. It is a reference to Tom's love of cinema.
The interior of the apartment is average, depressing, drab and bland. The living room is a modestly furnished walk-through room, all with ugly, grayed wallpaper, upholstery and carpeting. Laura's desk is tucked in under a large storage window, above it, in a recess overlooking the kitchen, there are shelves with a collection of the title glass figurines.
As the shelves are located between the two windows, the figurines are nicely lit by the sun and cast rainbows over Laura's corner.

Tom's room has almost no furniture, as if the owner is only staying here temporarily. No textiles of any kind, just a bed, travel case, hanger and movie poster. Books stack up against the walls.
