The Way We Move

A few months ago I entered the Cheltenham Illustration Awards; the brief was to produce a piece in response to Holst's The Planets, and relate it to the theme of memory.
I loosely related it to a dream I'd had, and used that as a springboard to create a narrative of a girl who flies a paper crane only for it to disintegrate and for her to turn into a real crane herself. Each horizontal section of panels corresponds to the movements of Holst's piece.
Mars: Bold and dramatic
Venus: Solitary, reflective and calm
Mercury: Flighty and playful
Jupiter: Togetherness
Saturn: Ominous and wise
Uranus: Dramatic and dark
Neptune: Solitary and slow
