WORKS IN PROGRESS - August 2020

I started some personal digital painting/sketching projects this month and have really started to just dive back into my art with a vengeance. All of the projects below have been done over the course of the last two weeks from mid- to late-August and are currently being developed.
Leia is getting closer and closer to getting finished each day. In fact, she's one of my most finished pieces out of all the works in progress. Where I've left off is the colouring, lighting and texturizing of her hair. Once that's done, I can do a background and call her complete. This was done on my Microsoft Surface Pro X in Photoshop 2018 (2020 won't run on the Pro X because it's 32-bit and I guess 2020 is 64-bit?). I've always been a Carrie Fisher fan, especially as Princess (later, General) Leia. She was strong-willed, independent and a very positive role model for me as a little girl. This is my salute to "Space Mom".
Hellboy is a project that I started in Fresco on my Surface laptop using the "live" watercolour brushes. Watercolours were never my forte when I was in school, but I'm learning to like them in the digital world. Unfortunately, I realized that when I got my Microsoft Surface Pro X tablet that it wasn't supported by Fresco, so I haven't worked on Hellboy since then -- as most of my art as of late that isn't work related has been done on my tablet (on my couch), rather than my laptop + Huion display tablet at my desk.

Eventually, Hellboy will be finished, but it might have to wait until I get my new desk for work in the livingroom (my current desk is far too small to have the Huion out on the desk full time).
A partial sketch, partial painting (unfinished) of Hellboy pointing his gun.
Falkor the Luck Dragon from The Neverending Story has always been a favourite movie creature of mine, so I just had to do him. Painting something that is basically all white was going to be an interesting challenge, because knowing what I do about colour, lighting, etc., I know that Falkor may be a white dragon, his fur and scales would not actually be all pure white. So this was a fun light and colour study for me. Although I did finish his head, I'm considering this a work in progress as I'd love to finish his body at some point.

Ripley, Jonesy and the Xenomorph is the first project I started on the Pro X. It started off as a quick outline of Ripley's face, then I just kept going. So once I had Ripley and Jones filled out, I started working on the Xenomorph. My plans are to work the Ripley/Jones image with the Xenomorph image to create a composition of the two -- I'm just still pondering exactly how I want to do this (e.g. do I want to keep all the detail work for the Xenomorph and have it stand out as much as Ripley and Jones? Or do I want to make the Xenomorph more of a foreboding silhouette/shadow in the background? Or do I want to do something else entirely such as keeping them as separate projects? I have to play around with the two sketches to figure that out and then see about the colouring.
