Lebanon is now living a period of deep economic unrest. Starting June 2019, in the face of prices rising and businesses closing, I initiated a project to document these restaurants and coffee shops of Hamra District, Beirut which witnessed my growth as a person and have become an intrinsic part of who I am.
Many of these businesses were damaged by the August 4th explosion at the Beirut Port, meaning they will never truly come back to the way they were before. Hopefully, these sketches stand as a memory of the experiences they engendered and soon will engender again.
