Art Movement Task
Hello and a beautiful day to everyone. A new task has just pop up and in today's task we are told to make our countries local product in a creative way as possible but using only a specific type of art movement of our choice and make it as a poster.
So the local product i decided to approach are junk food. Though there are a lot of fast food restaurant in my country, i decided to approach three of my most visited fast food restaurant and they are McDonalds, KFC and Jolibee. And the left side of the picture is the finished product that i done for this task. (Right side is references i used for my work)
Type of Art movement i picked?
So the type of art movement i decided to pick is Pop Surrealism. The only reason i picked this art movement is because i like the idea of adding cartoon character to a real life event, which in my case the three mascot of my most visited fast food restaurant. As you can see from the right (Made by Hillary White), all the monster present in that scene are the all the crew of sesame street having an anatomy lesson by Dr Bird. Of course this does not actually happen in the show because Sesame Street are meant to be family friendly!!!! And this kind of scene would probably scarred a kid for life. This scene is actually just a re imagined version from the real image (Image below) made by Rembrandt titled The Anatomy Lesson.
What is Pop Surrealism?
Pop surrealism art draws inspiration from street art, skateboarding culture, DIY comics, fantasy art, surrealism, cartoons, hot rod culture, punk rock culture, and psychedelic rock scenes.(In this case i used cartoon as my style) What makes this art movement great is that, there are no creative rules for this art style. You can go beyond real , shocking the viewer or even in an unorthodox way and the only rule that i can see from this is not to be normal in your art!!!
What makes it even more fun is that this art has a sense of humor and will not be shy to displays a harsh tone of humanity using the social-cultural environment of human beings.
Summary Of My Poster
So in my case i decided to take a psychology approach to this on how people keep eating on junk food as a daily basis in their diet. All 3 of the fast food mascot are serving up food to the person happily non stop to the extent that the person started melting(aka destroying them self).
And the giant eye represent people who know the consequences what this food can do but turn a blind eye to it and continue to look at the sin we do (Gluttony). And that is why i made the subject stuck on a platter that person is bound to the dining table until the day they start to realize what they are doing to themselves.
How did i do this poster?
I used both Adobe Animate CC to create each and every one of the resources like the chips, burger, straw, spilled cola and characters involved.I mostly use line tool to create each and every one of the resource and fill to put in color into it. And i used Paint Tool Sai to compile all the resource that i made into one canvas and add a little extra detail like face melting Ronald's hair and red shirt. For the eyes, i decided to try a bit of a realistic approach to it making it seem a little out of the ordinary in this picture by drawing it myself with a Wacom Tablet. And After the compilation is done i made it into a A4 poster to match the description and send it here.
