Tiny Forest Photo Club

Tiny Forest Photo Club is a toy photography project run by Shelby Cinca (also known   as Catbeats). I was hired to create the branding around this project that features Japanese boutique toys and a deep connection to Swedish forests.

Some words from the Tiny Forest Photo Club founder

Tiny Forest Photo Club is my toy photography hobby account I started after discovering a Smiski toy randomly in a design store in Stockholm. After that moment I researched what this toy was introduced to the world of this character and some related figures by the Japanese toy company Dreams. I have always enjoyed small Japanese design figures since I was a child and even had some Dreams cats that my friend from Japan Itaru randomly sent me. This hobby took on a life of its own when I went on parental leave when I had a newborn and my then 5 year old was also home. We would often go to the forest and set up Smiskis and other toys and take photos. I finally had a reason to use and learn my Olympus OM-D camera more regularly. It then took on a life of its own as a project to rediscover social media in a positive light and put out magical little photos that brighten peoples days. During this I found a whole community of people who do the same and it reframed my relationship to social media in a positive way.

While it was progressing I felt like I wanted it to have more professional branding. Partly because I do eventually want to grow the brand into making original toys along with showcasing ones I love. I contacted Zhenya who worked with me on Catbeats and knew he could really capture the magic and feel of it all. He created a few logos which over time they will be swapped out on the instagram.
