ABOUT the BOOKS
"Artemis Fowl" is a series of fantasy books created by Eoin Colfer about the adventures of a twelve-year-old boy who is a criminal mastermind.
The series is perfect for our project because of several reasons.
First of all, it is not so hyped as Harry Potter or Game of Thrones. It has a fantasy theme that fits in this specific kind of art. And finally, a movie with the same title was to be released in cinema (then online due to COVID-19) this year.

ABOUT the GENERATIVE ART
Generative art is a broad category of art created as a result of autonomous system performance which means that the artwork becomes a combination of an artist imagination and algorithm-based computer generation.
It gives an opportunity to create visual content that is based on different publication characteristics and moreover, generative art systems can be easy adjusted to different inputs but at the same time maintain set-up style and layouts.
HOW COVERS are CREATED
The concept was to use text features as parameters for image generation. As a basis for generation, we chose a Peter de Jong attractor.
As the attractor parameters we used such features as average word length, average sentence length, and the average number of sentences in a paragraph.
The generated pattern depends on the values of parameters. The process of cover creation was the following:
1. Processing texts of all books to extract the needed features.
2. For each book in a series, generate a background image using Peter de Jong attractor.
3. Creation of a cover layout that includes book name, author, generated image
The RESULTS
Visually these covers do not tell additional information about books themself, but as book parameters are used to create images, all covers differs from each other.
The results for seven books from the series are shown below.
