Currently a public parking lot, the proposal for this site in Asheville,
NC is a tailgate farmers market, consisting of stalls constructed
minimally from timber frame structures. The program includes thirty
10ftx10ft drive-in stalls for vendors, as well as a 1,000 ft2 covered
exterior gathering space and 500 ft2 designated for both restrooms
and recycling facilities. The repetitive pattern of my proposal
highlights its simplicity, and draws attention to the beauty of the
material and form alone. The slanted roof uses timber louvers and
transparent polycarbonate roofing to allow paths of light to penetrate
through to the ground.
