Second Harvest Heartland Missing Meals

Missing Meals Campaign
Second Harvest Heartland
Second Harvest Heartland is dedicated to figuring out how to end hunger in Minnesota — literally. Embarking on a project called Missing Meals, SHH calculated how many meals are needed versus how many meals low-income families can provide or have access to. And in a state with so much abundance, they found the results staggering: 125 million missing meals in Minnesota each year.
This is the equivalent of missing 14 meals a month, or dinner every night for two weeks. This data proved that hunger is a universal problem that must be addressed immediately — and solving it was possible.

I served as art director and lead designer on several pieces for both communicating this problem, and seeking to develop partnerships within the community to end hunger. Below are several printed pieces I created. The Missing Meals poster was the primary launch piece for the introducing the campaign. Also shown are a table tent used at Second Harvest Heartland fundraiser events, and the 2009 annual report.
