“Art cannot be modern. Art is primordially eternal.”
- Egon Schiele (1918)

I've done some research to find how others expressed themselves 100 years ago during the Spanish Flu pandemic, and found a few artists I used to be really influenced by years ago. I rediscovered Egon Schiele. A young, charismatic, and super talented painter in Austria during the times of the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic. Him and his pregnant wife past away in a tragedy from the flu 3 days after each-other. He was one of the most influencive artists during those times. This beauty editorial is inspired by some of the romantic & classic hairstyles that he portrayed in his paintings and sketches.
With the help of amazing team that brought it to life and each creative supported the story in a collaborative way. The narrative and the model, the specific and planned hair styles and makeup, the cohesive set design and color palates, fashion and styling to give the ethereal feel, and as a finale, the Polaroid Transfers process to burn all of the above into the paper and create each image with its own unique textures and style. All that with responsibility that we keep and give our next generations the same inspiration we got from artists that went through the sickness, uncertainty, fear, restrictions, difficult times, and lots of hope and optimism.
