In the following project I’m presenting to you a some of the works that i made for Jua Jamii’s team.
To have clear image and to fully understand the presented project we need to know some information such as what and who is Jua Jamii and what is the solar decathlon.
First what is Solar decathlon
The Solar Decathlon is a global, biannual collegiate competition by the U.S. Department of Energy, that challenges teams of students from across the world to design and build highly efficient buildings powered by renewable energy.
In 2019 this event was held for the first time in Africa exactly in Morocco where a team of PAUWES and University of Tlemcen students from eight different countries across the continent was the only All-African team competing at this Edition under the name Jua Jamii
The team name is Jua Jamii, a Swahili phrase meaning ‘solar community’, and together they have designed and built the Jua House: a net-zero-energy house using recyclable containers which also seeks to preserve, modernize and embrace the African architectural heritage.
I was selected to be part of the team as freelancer with contract of 6 months to help in building the visual identity and work on the branding of the team in addition to marketing and communication strategy during the competition to deliver the best image to the world about the project of Jua House
So my work started from designing to photography and video making according to strategic plan and collaborations with the team and different organization, we succeed to score 86/100 on the communication contest taking the 4th place with very limited budget.
