TV Spot: Alcalcía de Sucre (2009 FIP Winner)

On November 23, 2008 regional elections were held in Venezuela for Governors and Mayors. After the long election day, Carlos Ocariz became Mayor of Sucre with 55.6% of the votes. One of the first challenges they had to face in the largest city in the country was a strong reduction of resources.

President Chavez: ".. and I accuse them of being counter-revolutionary figures and we have to sweep them from Venezuela's political structure!. They will disappear from the political structure!"

President Chavez: "..and here we have dignity. Leave alone those who don't mess with anyone. Know how to manage your victory they are already filling it with shit. It's a shitty victory!. And ours, call it defeat if you want, but it's full of courage..."

This forced the newly elected mayor to look for fast and effective ways to increase the community's budget and show voters that positive changes can be done. This was how Ocariz approached DLB Group where he found the necessary support to develop an effective campaign that helped him raise funds quickly.

There was resounding success in street action using flyers, information centers and dummies placed at strategic contact points. For this reason, the decition to move the campaign to radio and television was taken.

TV Spot 1: "If you want this sweeper to be a real one for Sucre, pay your taxes in January and be part of a big change so that we can have the town we all deserve. Municipality of Sucre."

TV Spot 2: "If you want this cop to be a real one for Sucre, pay your taxes in January and be part of a big change so that we can have the town we all deserve. Municipality of Sucre."

Mayor Carlos Ocariz: "The taxing campaign was very creative and had a great impact because it was done in a short period of time just a few days after we won the elections and had a direct result in fund recollection. We have doubled the our revenue this year in 2009 compared to the year 2008."

Results were immediate. The money raised began to bear fruit and was destined for the community proving that the impossible can achieved.

Mayor Carlos Ocariz: "We focused on the 3 main problems which are security, we have significantly improved safety according to official numbers, garbage and transit."

Today, Sucre is one of the best-run city halls with the most noticeable changes in a short time management, becoming the town to which we all want to be a part of.
