The Increment of Flight Ticket Price

If you search on google “when the flight ticket…” the top three results are; when the flight ticket will go down, when the flight ticket prices drop, and when the flight ticket become cheap.

The flight ticket has been drastically increasing since last year. Sadly, it only applied to domestic flights. Ticket from Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur can cost around Rp 500.000 or Jakarta to Singapore cost around Rp 300.000 while ticket from Jakarta to Surabaya start from Rp 900.000 and could reach Rp 2.000.000. More surprisingly, ticket from Padang to Jakarta could reach until Rp 9.000.000 in ‘Eid holiday this year.

The increasing of flight ticket seems very crazy and complicate local people. It caused the number of airplane passengers this year decreasing compared to last year. From January to March 2019, the number of domestic air transport passengers decreased by 17.66%. And comparing March 2019 to March 2018, the amount of domestic air transport passengers decreased until 21.94%.

The increasing in airplane tickets certainly burdens local people who want to do domestic flight. Whereas for domestic air transport passengers, this transportation might be the most efficient for them. It also caused other transportation to surge, such as train, ship, or even car that continue to jam every year, even though many new toll roads have been built. I couldn’t agree with this price increment.

I firmly believed that government must immediately return the price of flight tickets to the day before it increases this drastic.
